We often mistakenly assume when writing assessments for our students that our learners are “just like us.” We use terminology, phrases, abbreviations, and pronouns that we prefer and know, that often leave our students confused and sometimes wounded. We review our tests by solely looking at statistics, but should we also be looking at linguistics?
